A Conversation on Kinship, Restoration, and Repair with Darren Parry
Part Two: Great Salt Lake - Inseparable from Ourselves
Darren Parry, former Chairman of the Northwest Band and the Shoshone Nation and poet Nan Seymour will hold a conversation about Rights of Nature for Great Salt Lake. Does the lake have inherent rights to live, flourish, and be restored? How can we repair the breach between humans and the rest of the living earth? How could humans repair our relationship with water overall?
When: Saturday, February 18th, 2:00-4:00pm MST (Registration closes Friday, 2/18 9:00PM)
Where: Antelope Island State Park Visitor Center. Masks required. Darren will be teaching us a song for healing the water that he learned from his grandmother. Near the end of our conversation, we will go outside together to sing to the lake. Please wear warm clothes: hat, mittens, etc...
Free with registration. Please make an offering to restoration at Boa Ogai.
Darren is the author of The Bear River Massacre: A Shoshone History. We highly recommend that participants read Darren’s book beforehand if possible to inform and enliven our conversations.
