I found River Writing at a time of big life transition—my children were growing and needing less of my care, and I was feeling a pull toward hospice work which was a new and daunting path. The container of River Writing has helped me be brave in my exploration of what I believe, value, and where I am needed in the world. It has helped me nurture my own clear voice, and has provided me with a more beautiful and supportive community than I could have imagined.
My hope as a facilitator is to witness and hold others in the way I have been witnessed and held in these circles. Oh, and to forever love on poetry in community—to hear the voices of others and see ourselves there. Some things that light me up are: The natural world, conversations with my children, being in the ocean or a mountain lake, the smell of rain in the desert, peonies, stars, libraries, and vegetable gardens.
